You have to have a greater purpose in life than just making money. The work itself should have a purpose behind it. That’s what I recently discussed with Maurice Philogene, senior executive, real estate investor, restaurant owner, explorer of 96 countries, public servant (federal agent & police officer), philanthropist and lifestyle design/financial freedom coach.
It’s easy to get into the work for work’s sake mode. If you’re on the entrepreneurial path and have a nine to five job or even a part time job you need to remember WHY you have that job. It should be to accomplish a meaningful end goal that connects to your purpose. Maurice realized this in his early 20’s while holding a corporate job. He felt the emptiness of “the corporate hamster wheel” and decided to diversify his income streams.
Would you like the ability to live life how you want, when you want and where you want? Then you need to make time to get what you want, not excuses.
Time Wealth
Time is the only asset that everyone has the same amount of and it’s the only thing that you can’t make any more of. Maurice explains the subject of “Time Wealth” as being able to free up time so you can do things that impact you as a person. He achieved time wealth by creating passive income. That income meant that he didn’t need to physically be somewhere to make money. This could be real estate, selling products or classes online and many other things.
When Maurice was starting to create passive income, a mentor shared an important lesson with him: While you’re getting started you don’t have to go after that HUGE goal. You can build success one small goal at a time. This is very true for entrepreneurs getting started. You don’t have to put all of your eggs in one basket by targeting that one big deal. You can set yourself up for smaller victories that, when combined, will amount to that one large victory.
